Purpose Statement

The Christopher Kinney Memorial Foundation exists to transform grief into action by supporting individuals affected by homelessness and mental illness. Rooted in compassion and remembrance, our purpose is to provide access to essential services, foster community awareness, and advocate for systemic change. We aim to create a society where no one is forgotten, overlooked, or denied the support they need to live with dignity and hope.

Focus

· Direct Support Outreach:

o Resource provision and emergency aid for unhoused individuals.

· Memorial and Remembrance:

o Honoring those who have passed, especially those who lived on the margins of society.

· Education and Advocacy:

o Raising awareness about mental illness and homelessness to shift public perception and influence policy.

Vision Statement

We envision a world where every individual regardless of housing status or mental health condition is treated with compassion, supported with dignity, and given the opportunity to thrive. Through remembrance, outreach, and advocacy, we strive to create communities where healing is possible, belonging is the norm, and no life is lost to neglect or invisibility.

Core values

· Dignity - We believe every human being deserves a respect, compassion, and care no matter their circumstances.

· Remembrance - We honor the lives of those we’ve lost and uphold their memory through meaningful action.

· Equity - We are committed to addressing systemic injustice and ensuring fair access to resources for marginalized populations.

· Compassion - We lead with empathy and all that we do, meeting people where they are with open hearts.

· Advocacy - We work to elevate unheard voices and push for changes that promote mental wellness, housing stability, and social justice.

· Community  - We build strong, inclusive partnerships to create lasting impact and shared responsibility.

Why We Exist

The Christopher KInney Memorial Foundation was born out of love, loss, and the urgent need for change.

Christopher Kinney was a son, a brother, an amazing uncle, and a friend. He was a deeply compassionate soul who faced the difficult realities of mental illness and housing instability. Despite the challenges he endured, Christopher's humanity, humor, and heart remained ever present. Like so many others living at the intersection of homelessness and mental health, Christopher was born more than the label society gave him- he was a person deserving of dignity, understanding, and care. His illness did not define him.

When Christopher's life was cut short, we knew his story could not end there.

This foundation was created to honor his life and to ensure that others facing similar struggles are not forgotten. Through direct outreach, education, advocacy, and remembrance, we carry forward Christopher’s spirit by supporting those who, like him, deserve to be seen, heard, and valued.

We exist to turn pain into purpose, loss into legacy, and memory into meaningful change. Every life matters - and every life deserves a second chance.
